Maintenance of your unit is a shared responsibility between your landlord, WBHDC, and you, the tenant.  In most cases, what can and should be done by whom is common sense.

WBHDC is responsible for the maintenance of the premises – walls, floor, floor coverings, plumbing, appliances, all electrical, etc.  Our Maintenance Office will arrange for the repair of broken appliances, leaky taps, etc., upon receiving notification from you and the completion of a Maintenance Request form.  WBHDC is also responsible for the upkeep of all common areas – entrances, lobby, elevators, hallways, laundry rooms, etc.  Your help to keep those areas neat and tidy is appreciated.  If you see an act of vandalism or something that requires repair, please report it to the Maintenance Office immediately. Your cooperation will help to keep our buildings in top condition.

Tenants are responsible for the upkeep of their unit to an acceptable standard.  You are expected to keep your home clean and in a reasonable state of repair.  If you or your guests damage your unit or the common areas, you will be required to pay for the repairs.  Should you fail to report a maintenance concern to the Maintenance Office, such as a leaky faucet, running toilet, damaged wall plug, etc., you will be charged for any damage to your unit as well as any damage to your neighbours’ units caused by the unreported problem.

WBHDC charges $50/hour plus GST for unit repairs, removal of garbage from steps/exterior of premises, and snow and ice removal.  If the repair requires a contractor, the rate charged to you will be determined by the contractor.
