board_garnerScott Garner has been an employee with Syncrude Canada Ltd. for the past 26 years, specializing in the area of strategic project business control.

Scott has been active in the non-profit sector for the past 25 years, most recently as Chair of Finance and Audit with the Foothills Foundation in High River/Okotoks/Black Diamond/Turner Valley, and was instrumental in helping many citizens recover from the 2013 floods that devastated hundreds of homes and businesses in southern Alberta.

Scott was elected Vice President of the Alberta Seniors Communities and Housing Association (ASCHA), an organization that supports its 30,000 members in creating and maintaining vibrant housing for seniors throughout Alberta.

His former board experience includes the following:

Vice Chair, Wood Buffalo Housing & Development Corporation (WBHDC);

  • Chair, Northern Lights Regional Health Authority;
  • Board member, Northern Lights Hospital Foundation; and
  • Board member, Keyano College Foundation.

Scott hopes to increase support for affordable housing options for low- and middle-income individuals, families and seniors in the Wood Buffalo region by providing quality housing, giving them a stronger voice, and delivering on the promise of a quality-of-life that ensures independence and dignity.
