board_vinniAllan Vinni moved to Fort McMurray in 2001 as an articling student with local law firm Thorne & Thorne shortly after the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Centre and Pentagon.

“Fort McMurray was probably the only place still hiring people,” says Allan.

Shortly after his arrival in Alberta, Allan was called to the Alberta Bar, opened his own firm, Allan Vinni Law Office, a year later, and hasn’t looked back since.

Allan was first elected as the Ward 3 representative to Regional Council in 2010; he was re-elected to his second term of office in 2013.  He was appointed to the WBHDC Board of Directors by his Regional Council peers in October 2015 to represent the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.  He also sits on three other Council committees, including the Wood Buffalo Recovery Committee struck to guide the region’s response to the devastating 2016 wildfire.

Allan is deeply committed to WBHDC’s vision, mission and goals and looks forward to building on the success of the organization during what is the most challenging time in the region’s history.

“This truly is the land of opportunity for all,” says Councillor Vinni. He particularly enjoys meeting so many new arrivals to the Regional Municipality who are boldly proceeding to buy a home here and “join this wonderful community.”

Allan’s partner, Tammie, is a psychologist in private practice at Psychsmith Ltd., and the two enjoy the pace of life at their Saprae Creek home. They enjoy learning to ballroom dance, golf and ride their horses. They also like travelling both in and beyond the region.
